Nicotine Addiction Is Very Bad For You

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Stop SmokingAlthough nicotine is sold as a legal substance it is highly addictive and can be very toxic for your body and its functions. There are also dangers from the tobacco plant's inbuilt protection against insects who want to feast on its generous leaves. So good was the protection it gave itself that an insecticide was developed and its widespread use is now thought to kill honey bees and hence there is a shortage of bees today.

People all around the world smoke this toxic substance and probably do not realise that it is a super toxin and drop for drop it is more deadly than arsenic, strychnine and even the venom of the diamondback rattlesnake. After reading this do you want to carry on smoking?

If like a lot of people you want to quit smoking and fight your nicotine addiction then help is always at hand. For the majority of cases going “cold turkey” works for them but if you're having trouble giving up then visiting your local GP or pharmacist is an option for you. There are plenty of natural aids out there
and also some that can be prescribed by your GP. It won't be easy getting rid of your nicotine addiction but once you've made that decision you've climbed the biggest hurdle of all.

How To Help With Cocaine Addiction

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Stop Taking CocaineFor a loved one it can be very difficult to see an addict suffer with their substance abuse. They want to help them in any way they can, without encouraging them to become more dependent on the drug. For instance giving an addict money to help them pay the rent is not really helping them at all but merely giving them the funds to buy more drugs.

If you know someone with an addiction to cocaine or any other drug then helping them and giving them support sooner rather than later is the best option. Show them that you love them and that you're going to be there for them throughout their treatment to becoming clean. Never force them to give up their addiction as they have to admit it to themselves and decide that it is time for them to deal with it. Forcing someone to accept treatment for their addiction very rarely works.

There are plenty of help centres around who will be able to give you advice on how to help with cocaine addiction and the best way to support your friend or loved one. Just remember that no matter how your loved one behaves when coming off the addiction, it's the disease itself that is causing the behaviour and it isn't anything personal to you. At this time your loved one will need you to be strong and help them
with their fight.

Outpatients Alcohol Treatment Can Be The Best Way Forward

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Stop DrinkingAlthough there is no medical cure for alcoholism it is a very treatable illness and more often than not you can be treated at an outpatients alcohol treatment centre. They will not be able to give you a magic tablet to cure all but they will give you lots of help, advice and support when you need it most.

Until an alcoholic has admitted that they have a problem there is no point in getting them started on any program as studies have shown that when they have been pressured into quitting they very rarely become clean and will continue to have relapses back onto the drink.

When they have decided to quit and depending on their level of alcoholism it is always better to seek medical help and they can get this from their GP who may recommend an outpatients alcohol treatment centre.

Here they will be able to help with the terrible withdrawal symptoms that can occur, studies have shown that up to 95% of alcoholic's can experience a level of withdrawal when they have stopped drinking. The other 5%, who are usually the really heavy drinkers will experience very severe withdrawal symptoms and really should be treated in a medical facility.

It's never easy to give up any addiction by yourself so always try and tell a loved one or friend of your treatment and what you're going through. Another good way to relieve the anxiety of withdrawal is to join a support group where they have people in the same boat as you who will be going through similar anxietie

Gambling Addiction – Does It Affect You?

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Stop GamblingThe effects of a gambling addiction are not just felt by the person playing the slot machines, buying lotto cards or hitting the casinos, it's also felt by the addict's family and friends. More often than not it can be worse for the friends and loved ones as they have to pick up the pieces and clear up the financial chaos made by the gambling addict.

The person closest to the addict has to stay strong for both of them and wait for the day when their loved one finally says enough is enough and wants to give up gambling. Waiting for that person to admit they have a problem is going to be tough but they have to realise that they cannot make that decision for them.

Once their mind has been made up you can then give them all the support they need. You can help make sure that they change their way of life and ensure that they stay away from places where it is easy to gamble. Unfortunately, these days this is a lot harder as there are gambling sites on the internet, lotto cards in most shops and amusement arcades with slot machines popping up everywhere.

If you are affected by gambling addiction then there are plenty of places for you to seek help and guideance as to what to do. You must stay strong for both of you and remember to tell a close friend or family member what you are going through so that you will have someone to talk to about your trou
bles.

How To Stop Smoking Weed

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Stop WeedIf you've finally reached the decision to quit, you'll want to know how to stop smoking weed. Each person is different when it comes to quitting the smoking habit, the longer you've been smoking and the more you have smoked will have a bearing on your withdrawal symptoms. Here are just a few simple guidelines that can help:

Throw away all your smoking paraphernalia and weed, do not to keep anything that will entice you back. Tell your loved ones and trustworthy friends that you are giving up and that you need their support. If you are the only one in a group of smokers giving up, tell them that you no longer want to smoke but you'll understand if they want to continue. You will have to be strong too and tell them “no” if they offer you any weed.

One of the biggest things to do is make preparations for your withdrawal symptoms, be aware that they are coming and the likely signs. The good news is that they don't last and after about 2-3 days you'll feel a little better and after 10 days you should be well on the road to recovery. You may experience anxiety, panic attacks and sleeplessness along with nausea and a lack of appetite but preparing for this should make it easier for you. Taking exercise on a regular basis and a
healthy diet will help with these symptoms and help you to learn how to stop smoking weed.

Behavioural Interventions Work As A Cocaine Addiction Treatment

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Cocaine AddictionBack in the 80s and 90s cocaine was the preferred drug for people to abuse and this has continued right up into the 21st century. However, these days they are more likely to smoke crack cocaine or abuse polydrugs. Whichever way they take their preferred hit there is no medication available to help them come off it but because of the high percentage of users, great efforts are being made to remedy this.

Many treatment centres are using behavioural methods to help combat the addiction and these have proven to be very effective in outpatient and residential cocaine addiction treatment centres. In the future studies will most likely show that behavioural treatment along with some form of medication will be the way forward.

One of the best methods of behavioural therapy is called Motivational Incentives (MI) which is where the addict is given a prize or voucher for staying clean, they can then use these to buy special treats for themselves. Another program is Cognitive-behavioural therapy or CBT, which helps the addict remain drug free by recognising the situations that make them want to take drugs and by giving them the tools to help themselves remain cocaine free.

Along with these treatments there are also one on one and group therapy sessions. These are very important for an addict as it show them that they are not the only ones to have a problem and it also gives them the chance to talk about their issues.

How To Help With Cocaine Addiction

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Cocaine AddictionIf you’ve got a friend or loved one who is taking drugs you may want to know how to help with cocaine addiction. One of the most important things you must remember not to do is force your friend or loved one to give up cocaine, they must come to this decision in their own time and by themselves. Studies show that most addicts who have been forced to quit will not stay off it for long.

Once your friend or loved one has told you of their intention to quit then the best thing to do is to offer your help and support and be there for them as much as you can. They will need your assistance most through the first few weeks of their withdrawal, so being there for them and helping take their mind of their symptoms will be essential.

If you are not already living with them it may be better if you arranged to stay with them throughout their treatment and if possible ask for help from others so that you can take it in shifts to "look after" them.

The withdrawal symptoms are not easy for the addict but they will not be easy for friends and loved ones either, you will have to be just as strong, if not stronger, than them so that you can give support and talk them through when they are at their lowest point. These are just some ways on how to help with cocaine addiction.

Hypnotism For Alcohol Rehab

By Julie Paarmann| With 0 Comments

Quit Drinking AlcoholUsing hypnotism for alcohol rehab is on the increase and is also gaining more and more credibility within the medical field. The treatment is usually undertaken with a specialist in addiction treatment present, this is so that they can offer help and guidance as the session progresses.

In most cases hypnotherapy treatment is used towards the end of an addicts rehab treatment and will help to ensure that they stay away from alcohol in the future, they will be shown techniques on how to keep the cravings away and also on how to change their mindset towards alcohol.

The reason for hypnotherapy being used later in the treatment is because the addicts body has to be completely clear of all the toxins that alcohol places in the body. Before starting on this treatment the addict must really want to stop drinking and give up all their bad habits, if this is not the case then it is more than likely that the treatment will not work.

If you are considering using hypnotism for alcohol rehab then it is worth taking into account that although it is a good tool to use alongside your other treatment and it will help you stay on the right course, it is not a cure for your addiction and you still have to work hard to gain your alcohol free status.
